What’s The Busy Genie? Who is Genie? The two most commonly asked questions around here! First of all, there is no one by the name of “Genie” (LOL). But, there is a Head Genie and several Genie Helpers. You’ll learn about them below.
As far as “What’s The Busy Genie”…well, let us tell you that we are no ordinary indoor playground. Since the change of ownership that happened back in August 2009 when the indoor playground was named “Mary’s Playland”, the place has undergone several changes. It is no longer JUST an indoor playground…it is now also a child care provider, a learning centre, and a consignment shop. The Busy Genie now occupies all three floors (the ground floor, the 2nd floor, and the lower level).
The Busy Genie does not like to be in a stagnant position — much like the children it entertains; therefore, you will regularly note plenty of on-the-go activities. Visit this site often and/or join our mailing list to keep up to date of events inside The Busy Genie or in and around the community and surrounding areas!
The Genies
Hanna, The Head Genie (Owner)
She wears many hats…a norm for most business owners! She is a mother of two young kids who are her little genies and married to an awesome and supportive husband who is her real genie. Her previous experiences include: computer instructor, database developer, IT manager, martial arts practitioner and instructor, and a life coach. She’s well prepared for running a very busy indoor playground that itself wears many hats! Her ultimate goal is to serve families and communities to provide solutions and support networks.
The Genie Helpers:
Mauricio (Moe)
Moe is Hanna’s personal genie! He is often found helping out at parties and making sure that things are going smoothly and safely. He is fluent in Spanish and that is certainly helpful for our Spanish parties! His real business is in SR& ED. What is that, you say? He assists businesses get reimbursed through Canada’s SR&ED program for money they have spent on developing their products or systems. You can visit him at www.bondconsulting.ca.
Anastasia & Ethan, Little Helpers
Hanna’s cute kids who like to feel important when they tell other kids that they can’t go into the office…only they can! LOL. They like to help out with putting things away and getting little balls from where the big genies can’t get to!
Aileen
Aileen is The Busy Genie’s main child care provider. She has ample experience in child rearing, lots of patience, and is excellent with the children. She is a mother of three children herself and she knows what’s what! She is helpful with all of our customers and can answer most of your questions. If not, she will make sure that The Head Genie calls you back!
Ada (Russell)
Ada is The Busy Genie’s child care second in command. She came to The Busy Genie from a high recommendation from previous employers. And, they were right! She does not lose her cool amidst children’s craziness that is normal when you have lots of children running around…including The Head Genie asking for this and that and the other thing.
Claire
A high school student from Bishop Allen on Royal York Road. A Genie Helper with considerable curiousity and energy. She is full of initiative and very helpful all around. She helps out during the week in the afternoons and during parties on weekends.
Meaghan
A high school student from Bishop Allen on Royal York Road. A Genie Helper who is patient and loves clowning around with the kids. She is inquisitive and very helpful all around. She helps out during the week in the afternoons and during parties on weekends.
